Agreeing to these terms
OptionsAcademy is a free, open website. By using it, you agree to these Terms of Use and to our Disclaimer and Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any of it, please do not use the site. We may update these terms from time to time, and when we do we will change the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
What OptionsAcademy is (and is not)
This site is education. It teaches how options and investing work, for a general audience. It is not personalized financial, investment, tax, or legal advice, it is not a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold anything, and using it does not create an advisor-client or fiduciary relationship of any kind. The full detail lives in our Disclaimer, which is part of these terms. Options trading carries real risk, and you are responsible for your own decisions.
Using the site
You are welcome to read, learn from, and share links to OptionsAcademy for your own personal, non-commercial use. In return, you agree not to:
- copy, scrape, republish, resell, or redistribute large portions of the content as your own,
- use the site or its content to mislead people or to present it as personalized advice,
- attempt to break, overload, hack, or disrupt the site or the systems behind it, or
- use the site in any way that breaks the law.
If you would like to use our material beyond personal learning, for a class, a publication, or anything commercial, just ask us. We are usually happy to say yes.
Who owns the content
The lessons, writing, graphics, and design on OptionsAcademy belong to OptionsAcademy and Sal Mutlu, unless something is credited to someone else. You are free to learn from all of it and link to it. You do not get ownership of it, and reusing it wholesale without permission is not allowed. Names, logos, and branding on the site are ours as well.
No warranties
OptionsAcademy is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the fullest extent the law allows, that includes any implied warranty of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose. We work to keep the content correct and current, but we do not warrant that it is complete, error-free, up to date, or that the site will always be available or uninterrupted.
Limitation of liability
You use OptionsAcademy at your own risk. To the fullest extent permitted by law, OptionsAcademy, Sal Mutlu, and anyone involved in producing this site will not be liable for any loss or damage arising out of your use of the site or your reliance on anything in it. That includes, without limitation, any trading or investment losses, lost profits, or any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, even if we had been warned such losses were possible. Every financial decision and every trade you make is yours alone.
You agree to hold us harmless
If your use of the site, or your breach of these terms, leads to a claim against us by someone else, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless OptionsAcademy and Sal Mutlu from that claim, including reasonable costs and legal fees, to the extent the law allows.
Links and third parties
The site links out to brokers, tools, documents, and other resources, and some of those are affiliate links that may earn us a commission at no cost to you. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, their accuracy, or how they handle your information. A link is not an endorsement of everything on the other end.
Donations
Donations to OptionsAcademy are voluntary and are processed by PayPal. They help keep the site free and are not a purchase of any product, service, or advice. Because the site is free either way, donations are generally non-refundable, though if something went wrong with a payment, reach out and we will do right by you.
Changes and availability
This is a growing site. We may add, change, or remove lessons, features, or pages at any time, and we may pause or discontinue any part of it without notice. We are not liable to you for doing so.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the state and country in which OptionsAcademy is operated, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and any dispute relating to the site or these terms will be handled in the courts located there.
